moomix new adds – it’s been a while

The last time we refreshed moomix was January. We hope the BGM wasn’t getting too repetitive. With over 800 songs in moomix it shouldn’t be the case – depends how often you visit us! Seriously due for a refresh, we’ve added almost 200 new tracks to moomix and weeded out about the same number that were becoming overplayed. You can see the list of new adds below. We especially like Acrylics, the bonkers Alex Wilson, Bay Raiders (we need sunlight on a cold dark afternoon), Thao & Mirah for their cooky acoustic sound, Vetiver, Metronomy because they hail from Totnes in Devon where Kay’s mum lives, Kurt Vile, and those greats Cocteau Twins and Yellow Magic Orchestra.

We started doing sundaes in June. Just needed the weather to catch up! We have the old favourite Banana Split, Moovova Pavlova and Malimoo Beach (we like our ‘creative’ names as you know from our burgers). All our icecream is from Luca. Try one as a treat on its own or have one for dessert on Burger Night.

At last, moo is doing milkshakes and smoothies! With a name like ours it seemed like a no-brainer. Should have started a long time ago.

The milkshakes are made with Luca’s ice cream and our starting line up of flavours are vanilla, strawberry, coffee, chocolate, banana and chocolate, banana, coconut. We’re trialing a marmalade breakfast milkshake, which is actually really good. You’ll be surprised. For smoothies we have raspberry and banana, apple and banana with mango coming soon. We’re also looking into lacto free milkshakes.

Pop in and try one, sit in or take away.

We’re welcoming flavour ideas so keep them coming!

We had a break over Christmas and new year but now Burger Night is back at moo. Every Friday night from 6-9.

Ideal for stocking up on good nosh before a night out on the town or a slap up meal for families.

All our burgers are home made with 100% Scottish beef and served up with our legendary hand-cut chips. With our prices and BYOB with no corkage it’s great value. See our special burger night menu below.

Veggies? We do a veggie bean burger with a choice of any topping from the menu for a pound less.

111 new tunes on moomix for 1/11

A happy new year and a happy lot of new tunes have been lovingly compiled and added to moomix, our in-cafeteria playlist. Our favourites from this lot are Ariel Pink, Chromeo, The Bird and the Bee, Gayngs, Perfume Genius, Twin Sister and Frank (Just Frank). We were looking forward to putting on some tracks from Euros Childs’ new album ‘Face Dripping’ – we loved his last album ‘Son of Euro Child’. Having sampled it, we found that this time Euros has veered towards experimental electronica making the tracks a bit grating for cafe consumption (interesting but a hard listen).

burger nights at moo – so good we’re keeping it

We started burger nights in August as a trial and we’ve had such good comments it’s now a permanent fixture.

Burger night is on every Thursday and Friday at Moo from 6-9pm. Ideal for stocking up on good nosh before a night out on the town or a slap up meal for families. And in November, why not come on Guy Fawkes night to fuel up before lighting up your fireworks?

moo goes boooooooo! pre-trick-or-treat family night

Want a slap up meal and a bit of fun before you go out trick or treating this Halloween? We’re doing a pre-trick-or-treat family night on Sunday 31 October from 5:00-7:00pm.

There’ll be a special kid’s menu, which includes green pumpkin soup with worms and beetles (delicious!), dracula burger AND a quality baddie bag of treats to kick off the trick or treating. Grown-ups can choose from our regular seasonal big bites and small bites menu and bring their own bottles of their favourite blood. Grown-ups only parties are welcome too of course.

The person with the best costume gets a prize. And there’s a scary pumpkin drawing competition.

Bonjour! Yakety yak Language Cafe is now at moo. It’s a nice way to improve your foreign language conversation in a local cafe in a small group with an experienced tutor.
