our menu is evolving – doorstop melts and other new bites
It’s not just a change of season that makes us think about our menu. It’s gauging the nature of our customers too. When we opened moo last October, we thought that there would be more take-away customers than sit-in. And we tailored our menu accordingly. That’s where the idea of the moo lunch combo – mix and match a selection of pies and casseroles with a selection of sides – came from. We wanted to give our customers hearty home cooking from a daily changing, flexible but easy to manage menu, designed primarily for take-away. And we stuck quite rigidly to this format for a while.
But what we found since opening is that, happily, we have many more sit-in customers than take-away. If you think about it, our interior design and background music choice does scream ‘Come in and sit down!’. So we’ve expanded the sit-in only lunch menu with more thought for our sit-in customers. We’ve added items such as doorstep melts (emmental melts with toppings such as asparagus or pastrami and pickle), bruschettas, seasonal vegetarian risottos and home made cheese burgers with hand cut chips and our own spicy tomato chutney.
We’ve simplified our take-away lunch menu – two pies plus a third main to choose from with a selection of sides. Pies are one of our best sellers and will continue to be available for our pie fans. The third dish is now more varied than just casserole type dishes. We’ve brought in new items such as scrumptious home made fish cakes with tartar sauce. Of course all take-away items are available to sit-in with a bit of added value.
We’ll be looking to evolve our breakfast menu in the coming months too. One new item that’s going down a treat is our asparagus and smoked salmon omelette. So that more customers get the chance to try our dishes, we’re now rotating the items more slowly, roughly on a weekly basis. Enjoy your food!
